Aesthetics and Chinese Characters

Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Aesthetics and Chinese Characters by CHIA-HUI LIEN Aesthetics and Chinese is a series of posters based on the design of Chinese characters. The structure of each character is built from its radical strokes, which are presented in rotating and gradual arrangements. The series turns written text into visual symbols and uses font design as a contemporary form of expression. Posters, invitation cards and a book were printed to highlight the character forms. The posters measure 70 by 100 centimetres. The work presents Chinese language and characters as a lasting cultural asset of Oriental culture.
