Bamboo Art Restaurant

Shih Hao Lien

Interior Space and Exhibition Design Bamboo Art Restaurant by Shih Hao Lien Bamboo Art is a restaurant interior covering 855 square meters in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The design was inspired by the bamboo skewers used in barbecues. Grilles of thin lines in smoked black and light brown recall skewer patterns and create a calm contrast within a busy space. Local materials were selected instead of imported ones to reduce the emissions and pollution linked to air and sea freight. Uncoated galvanized steel, unpainted exhaust pipes, energy-saving lamps, a rough stone veneer wall and roof solar panels keep materials in their original state. Most materials are recyclable.
