The image shows peppers recorded in close-up, yet many viewers see human bodies or parts of them. When the print is rotated, the imagined forms disappear and other shapes may be seen instead. The photograph is taken with a large format optical bench camera and microscope optics at very small apertures, which gives a shallow depth of field. The negative is printed by hand on cotton-backed paper and toned with selenium for long durability.
