The three-volume set covers theory, finger notation and music notation, and is accompanied by recordings. Each volume opens flat, which allows comfortable use while music is performed. The cover graphics combine a mountain horizon with the look of a sound recording in a music editing program, and form a mirrored image that recalls reflections in mountain lakes. Titles and graphics are printed by silk screen on raw linen with red threads, a reference to traditional highlander costumes.
