The Lake Art Gallery

Architecture, Building and Structure Design The Lake Art Gallery by Xiaobing Yao The Lake Art is an art gallery set on a lawn beside Xinglong Lake in Chengdu, China. The gallery replaces a small coffee shop and covers 600 square meters. Solid geometric volumes are cut and combined to shape a facade that recalls a stone sculpture, so the building is easy to recognize next to the natural scenery. The spatial forms refer to the mountains, trees and clouds of the city. A waterproof ceiling, designed as a geometric image of clouds, responds to the humid local climate. The interior is planned for art exhibitions and international cultural exchange.
