Interior Space and Exhibition Design Centennial Shameen Architecture Activation by WAY Architects Centennial Shameen is a cultural space created inside a historical building on Shamian Island in Guangzhou, China. The building was completed in 1862 and its exterior retains the original symmetrical form, the precise proportions of doors and windows, and rich molding lines. Inside the 260 square meter room, which has a ceiling height of 4.55 meters, a steel interlayer adds a mezzanine level with an independent frame structure. The space holds art exhibitions and a tea house for the community. New materials and new lighting contrast clearly with the old pillar system.
