Fine Arts and Art Installation Design Good Boy Good Girl Rattan Sculpture by Chan Hwee Chong Good Boy Good Girl is a pair of rattan sculptures depicting a child figure. Each sculpture stands about 1.4 metres tall and is made of woven rattan over a metal structure. The work refers to the cane, a tool used by many parents in Singapore for corporal punishment, in the belief that the cane shapes the character of the child. The sculptures show the immobilizing grip of societal forces on children in a fast-paced environment. Rattan was selected to express rigidity of both body and mind.
