Architecture, Building and Structure Design The Surface and Body Education by Jung Tien Hsu The Surface and Body is an education center in Taichung, Taiwan, with a floor area of about 1089 square meters. The building is formed by an inverted L shaped wall and a rectangular concrete body. Fair faced concrete is the main material, and the simple shape suits the plain texture. The wall is folded to create windows set at 30 degrees, which open wide views and limit direct sunlight. A large glass curtain brings natural light into the main space and reduces the use of artificial lighting. The volume is set back to form a sheltered urban open space.
