Chinese Sports Illustration

Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Chinese Sports Illustration by Yanliu Cui Chinese Sports is a series of five illustrations about traditional Chinese sports. The set depicts acrobatics, cuju, equestrian sports, the five animal exercises and throwing. Each illustration places its sport within the historical period in which the sport was popular, so the images combine a sense of history with a sense of movement. The sketches were drawn in pencil, then scanned and completed with digital painting software. The series was released online to help the public learn about the cultural meaning of these traditional sports.
