The Box Architecture

Hsiang-Peng Chang

Architecture, Building and Structure Design The Box Architecture by Hsiang-Peng Chang The Box is a four-story house built on a small site in a rural setting. The white facade is composed of solid and recessed squares that form a simple geometric volume. Mineral paint is used as the facade finish, as it is durable, easy to clean and reflects heat radiation. The kitchen and dining area face a double-height space, so cooking sounds and smells reach the floor above and bring the family together. A composite west wall and a vertical ventilation shaft reduce solar heat and move air through the interior. Staggered floor slabs frame views of the landscape.
