The bristles are made of a light-conducting optical fiber material. Each bristle has a small fiber core with a diameter of 8 or 50 micrometers. The core has a high refractive index, while the outer layer has a lower one, so light travels only along the fiber. A blue light mode improves light guidance to the teeth. Additional gum-protective bristles help clean the teeth and protect the gums. The toothbrush measures 20 by 20 by 120 millimeters.
