Timber and Table Restaurant

Hospitality, Recreation, Travel and Tourism Design Timber and Table Restaurant by Luxi Chen Timber and Table is a restaurant created through the adaptive reuse of a vernacular courtyard house in Zhejiang, China. Original timber beams, brick walls, tiled roofs and worn thresholds were retained and restored with traditional craft techniques. Concealed steel supports and modern building systems were added to meet current safety and service needs. A transitional space and a staircase connect the front and rear volumes. The central courtyard was reimagined as a reflecting pool with koi fish, offering a quiet pause for guests.
