Tramdepot Bern Infrastructure

Architecture, Building and Structure Design Tramdepot Bern Infrastructure by Penzel Valier Tramdepot Bern is a tram depot with service and maintenance areas in Bern, Switzerland. The strip shaped hall is covered by a light glass and aluminium shell. White glass, a special surface structure and a staggered installation method create an expression that changes with the light. At night the building appears as a bright lantern. A shed roof of steel trusses spans the column free parking area. The structural system allows the depot to be extended in stages on the narrow site with oblique angles.
