Movie, Video and Animation Design Chowmein Holiday Short Live Action Film by Lanhua Ma Chowmein Holiday is a short dark comedy film about two Asian American grandmothers, Li Ling and May, on a road trip across California. The two characters begin a crime spree during the journey. One grandmother finds a new purpose in life, while the other keeps a secret from her partner in crime. The film was made to question common cinematic stereotypes of elderly women. Asian American grandmothers are shown not as quiet or docile figures, but as rebellious people seeking freedom, thrill and new meaning in later life. The running time is twenty one minutes.
