The tray combines a natural black gold stone surface with a die-cast aluminum chassis that collects used water. One side of the stone surface is flat and holds cups, while the concave side is used for making tea, so wet and dry areas remain separate. The concave part sits at three quarters of the chassis height. When the stored water reaches that level, tea flows from the drainage hole and signals that the base should be emptied. The stone surface is shaped by CNC machining.
