Lovely Xinjiang Restaurant

Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Lovely Xinjiang Restaurant by Jie Yang Lovely Xinjiang is the visual identity of a large restaurant in Urumqi, Xinjiang. The design draws on the local Uygur craft of grinding and joining bricks, seen on traditional building surfaces. Cultural elements of the region are drawn as simple graphic blocks and joined into larger figures. Each block stands for a different culture, and together the blocks form one complete picture. The identity is applied through the restaurant, which includes 56 private rooms, each themed on a national tradition. The intent is to present the many cultures of Xinjiang as one whole.
